DO NOT ATTEND PERFORMANCES IF YOU HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID 19- a new continuous cough, a high temperature or a recent change in sense of smell or taste. If you have any of these symptoms whilst at rehearsals or performances, you must go home immediately and seek a test from NHS 119.

 

DO NOT ATTEND PERFORMANCES IF YOU HAVE BEEN ASKED TO SELF-ISOLATE BY PUBLIC HEALTH ENGLAND’S TRACK AND TRACE. You must not come to, or near to, any performing arts activity if you have been asked to self-isolate.

 

 

GENERAL QUESTIONS

 

What time can I get into the venue?

All shows at Northwood House open 1 hour before the performance starts. The Lawn Bar is open from 12-10pm on Saturdays and 12-6pm on Sundays. The Northwood House Tea Garden is also open 11am-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

 

At Chale Showground, access to the site is available 90minutes before the show.  The Wight Mouse Inn is just opposite the site if you want to pop in for a pre-show drink or meal. There is no food or drink facilities on site but you are welcome to bring your own picnics and drinks.

 

Where do I sit?

We will be decorating the site with hearts painted on the floor to help with social distancing. These are for a maximum group size of 6 people. You must be positioned 2m apart from other guests outside of your group. Stewards will be around the site to ensure that social distancing is in place throughout the show. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask a steward. We encourage you to bring a picnic blanket, cushion or chair to sit on. If you are bringing a chair to sit on, please be mindful of guests sat behind you!

 

Can I bring a picnic? 

Absolutely! But BBQs are not permitted at either site. 

What should I wear?

It’s a fabulous night at the theatre! But we are outdoors so you should ensure that you are prepared for all types of weather conditions! Get your sunscreen and your sun hat ready but also pack your your rain mac and a warm jumper just in case.

 

Are there age restrictions for your productions?

Our Kids Theatre Shows (4pm Fridays, 1pm and 4pm Saturdays) are suitable for all the family to enjoy! Evening concerts and plays may contain some strong language and deal with adult themes. We do not put age restrictions on our productions, so it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian in advance of purchase to make their own judgement as to the suitability of a production for their own child. Do my children have to have a ticket?

Everyone must have a ticket to enter the site and it needs to be purchased online before the event begins. Children under 2 years can come to our Kids Theatre Shows at Northwood House for free but do need to have a ticket. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult over the age of 18.

 

Is there an interval?

There is an interval at all of our Concerts and during ‘The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)’. Our Kids Theatre shows and ‘Handbagged’ do not have an interval.

 

What measures are in place to make the outdoor theatre space ‘Covid Secure’?

A full risk assessment has been carried out to make us Covid Compliant, meeting the latest Government guidelines for outdoor performances.  We reserve the right to enforce stricter rules than the guidance may indicate. Hearts are painted on the floor to help groups socially distancing whilst watching the shows. There is a 3m buffer zone around the front of the stage to comply with the Government guidance on singing in public. Hand sanitiser will be available on the entrance to the venue and guests are encouraged to regularly wash their hands.

 

Can I just turn up and buy a ticket on the door?

Tickets must be purchased online. Ticket sales remain open until the start of the show so you may be able to book on your phone just before the start. We have a strictly limited capacity and many of our events are likely to sell out so don’t leave it too late before you buy your tickets because you might miss out!

 

Can I walk around during the performance?

We ask that all guests remain in their spaces during the performances unless going to the toilet (or bar at Northwood House). Guests are reminded to keep 2m from others and not to distract others during the performance.

 

Where can I go to the toilet?

Public toilets are located at the rear of the venue at Northwood House and there are toilets located in the House. Portaloo style toilets are available at Chale Showground. Please make sure you abide by social distancing whilst queueing for the toilet.

 

Can I wear a face mask?

Of course! If you wish to wear a face mask, please bring your own with you.

 

I am nervous about going to events this summer because of the pandemic, what can you do to help?

We have wonderful stewards who are on hand throughout your time at the venue. They can talk you through the measures, ensure you are seated somewhere away from others and make sure you are okay.  If you would like us to explain anything else about the venue then please email: horseboxtheatrecompany@gmail.com

 

Can I shout and sing and dance and be annoying to the people next to me?

We hope you can enjoy yourselves without spoiling the enjoyment of others around you. Current government guidance warns against audiences dancing, shouting or singing. Our performers will not encourage audiences to sing-a-long.

 

Will the line-up change?

We hope we don’t have to make changes to our concert lineups or casting of our shows, but it may be necessary to do so, and we reserve the right to make changes to our programming. We will do our best to keep you informed.

 

What if the event is cancelled due to bad weather?

It’s always sunny on the Isle of Wight…

If there is torrential rain or extreme weather, we may make the decision to cancel the performance. We will let you know as soon as this decision has been made. We may not make this decision until the arranged start time of the performance (you’ll be amazed how often it can rain all day and then clear up just in time for the action to start and indeed, how localised bad weather can be). You will be offered a ticket exchange for another performance, if there are no more performances of that show you will be able to get a full refund.
